The Company rose to the challenge with obvious enthusiasm and with a fine focus relating both to character and towards each other, and with a fine pointing of the humour of the work.

The St Ursula Players have been performing plays in Bristol since 1953. During that time, we've won over 130 awards in drama festivals (including the prestigious All England One Act Drama Festival).

The short video below gives an overview of some of the productions we've put on (photographs courtesy of Stewart McPherson Photography):

A bit about us

We present a wide variety of three act plays each year by playwrights who have included J.B. Priestley, Dennis Potter, Tim Firth, Shelagh Stephenson and Alan Ayckbourn. Our one act entries give us the opportunity to tackle more adventurous scripts by playwrights such as Tom Stoppard, Harold Pinter and Gillian Plowman.

We are committed to producing a high standard of work and to this end have won over 130 awards in Festivals which cover all aspects of production.

Five of our productions have reached the English Final of the All England One Act Drama Festival and two have won the All England and represented England at the British Final – an achievement of which we are very proud.

We are fortunate in having our own studio in Westbury-on-Trym which is adjacent to our performance venue, the Newman Hall.

We are a friendly group of enthusiasts who warmly welcome new members both on and back stage. We also have a Christmas party and a summer B-B-Q when we welcome family members and friends.
